About the Business

We are looking for a Contractor to fill this position. The role will be based Remotely in Austria. All candidates must have the Right to work in Austria


As Procurement Manager Destination Services (DS), you are responsible for the procurement of a land services portfolio in-destination (restaurants, tourist attractions, guides, excursions, motor coaches, transportation, etc.).


You build strong relationships with suppliers, tourism organization and industry partners to consistently deliver products that are competitive and suitable for our worldwide customer base and different business segments. You negotiate rates & conditions in line with market demand. You hold a sustainable balance between strategic thinking and operational capability. The travel requirements for this role will be 30%-40%.


As Procurement Manager DS, you will:


  • Report to the General Manager (interim solution)
  • Coordinate closely with the Procurement Coordinator DS responsible for Tier 2 services in your destination
  • Align with and support the Operation and MICE teams responsible for your destination
  • Further build and maintain good internal relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including Procurement, Reservation, Operations, MICE, Accounting and Sales.
  • Contract land services in your assigned destination applying the company’s market-leading procurement strategy and guidelines
  • Full understanding of various systems usages
  • Ensure rate competitiveness of your portfolio (in line with market rates and set KPI targets) and take corrective measures in coordination with your line Manager
  • Reach special / exclusive agreements with key suppliers (override deals / marketing contribution)
  • Monitor market trends and product innovation and reflect in product development
  • Align Sales’ expectation (demand side) with destination trends (supply side) and constantly look for new product ideas and maintain strong relation with key suppliers.
  • Maintain and further optimize inventory to support Sales’ business development across key destinations and “bottleneck” destinations
  • Ensure destination knowledge transfer to Reservation, Operations, MICE and Sales teams including planning and organising training and webinar sessions
  • Promote use of our internal online partner and e-billing tools
  • Build relationship with local tourist offices in your assigned destination
  • Deliver on time reporting when needed
  • Ongoing market and competitor analysis
  • Identify business risks and mitigate them
  • Ensure all business activities comply with relevant financial, legislative, legal demands and ethical standards of the organisation


Job Requirements


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Demonstrable experience in an international procurement, business development, account or revenue management role, ideally in the hospitality or travel industry
  • Strong knowledge of destination Germany & Austria
  • Excellent relationship with partners in Germany & Austria or Source Market is of advantage
  • Strong communication skills (written / spoken) in German native level and English at business level
  • Strong delivery focus and a proven track record of implementing workable solutions
  • IT proficiency including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (data analysis in Excel and reporting in PowerPoint)
  • Solution oriented decision maker with strong business acumen
  • Excellent communicator
  • Self-motivated and independent worker with positive can-do attitude
  • Team player who has the ability to cope with different levels of stress
