The Job:
Accountant AP & Swiss VAT Specialist oversee payment execution, payment forecasting, cash planning, and securing funds in coordination with Treasury and the Finance Team. In addition, he/she is the main responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual Swiss VAT declarations for Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG in compliance with local VAT law and requirements as well as all supporting the Swiss direct tax related matters (e.g.: coordinating with external tax provider as well las with the Head of Tax, providing accounting documentation, etc.). Accountant AP & Swiss Specialist is responsible for process improvements and the proper set-up of the ERP and accounting systems with a focus on VAT.
Accountant AP & Swiss VAT Specialist will report to the Head of Corporate & Finance of Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG and has close working relationship with different departments within the company as well as with our shared finance service centre. Furthermore, she / he will closely work with our external VAT and Tax consultants.
Responsibilities:
Carry out all AP tasks & activities alongside the AP Zurich Team
Support the supervision of AP transactions across different units within the division.
Ensure payment journals for Cost of Sales (CoS) payments provided by our shared finance service centre and Overheads (OVH) payments prepared by AP Zurich Team are released from bank accounts on time.
Bank master data review of CoS vendors in DOS.
Support clean-up of legacy items in the balance sheet.
Active participation in projects related to Purchase to Pay (PTP) processes.
Facilitate the monitoring of reliable and meaningful process KPIs.
Deputise within the AP Team (e.g.: payment journal processing, manage returned payments).
Ensure timely and correct accounting procedures for Swiss VAT (Swiss TOMS and I/O VAT)
Responsible for preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual Swiss VAT declarations for Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG
Responsible for P&L and BS reconciliations
Support sales offices (currently Hongkong, Korea and US, but can be extended) in preparation and timely submission of German VAT declarations
Ensure proper VAT handling in all systems and applications
Actively support the continuous improvement of procedures and controls in the area of VAT
Act as a primary contact for all Swiss VAT related queries from our shared finance service centre, the various KuoniTumalre sales Offices and for other finance functions
Create and update appropriate training material and ensure proper training and knowledge transfer to our shared finance service Centre, to the Sales Offices, to the PTP, RTR and GL employees of Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG
Align with the VAT External Providers for questions, complex transactions and changes in VAT law
Supporting Tax External provider as well as the Head of Tax in the preparation of tax declarations for Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG
Ensure proper tax provision is posted and monitor tax invoices and tax status of Kuoni Global Travel Services (Schweiz) AG.
Keep up with recent developments in VAT and taxes
Support the Swiss Finance team in other projects when needed
Job Requirements
To Succeed in this role you should have:
Certificate in Finance and Accounting (e.g. “Fachausweis in Finanz- und Rechnungswesen”) or equivalent education
At least 5 years of experience in Finance & Accounting in a multinational corporation
At least 3 years of experience in the area of indirect and direct taxes
Good understanding of Swiss VAT and Tax regulations including respective VAT declarations
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel is essential. Microsoft Dynamics AX is desirable
Good communication skills (written, spoken) in English. German is desirable.
Good understanding of the accounting processes for German VAT including respective VAT declarations is desirable
